How to Add a Formula Column to a Report/Dashboard in Wink V2

Creating custom calculations is simple in Wink V2 using the Formula Column feature. This functionality allows you to apply custom formulas to your reports and dashboards.

Follow these steps to add formula column:

On a Report

On your report, click “Edit” located on the right-hand side.

1 Formula

In the Layout section, click the “+” next to “Columns”.

2 Formula

A new window will appear. Click on “Formula” on the right-hand side to create a custom formula.

  • Column Name - Enter the desired name for the new column.
  • Description - Provide a brief description to help you and others understand what this column represents.
  • Formula - This is where you will enter the custom formula. You can refer to the "Formula Quick Guide - Full Reference" for a list of available functions and syntax to use in your formula. The guide is accessible via a link below the description.

4 Formula

After entering your formula, click “Add Column”.

5 Formula

The new column will be added to the end of your columns by default.

You can drag the column to rearrange it within the “Columns” section if needed.

6 Formula

Don’t forget to click “Save” to apply your changes.

7 Formula

The formula column will be added to your report immediately.

On a Dashboard

There are two methods for adding a formula column to a dashboard.

Method 1: Add Formula Column via Widget

Click “Edit” on the right-hand side of the dashlet you want to update.

8 Formula

Move your mouse to the upper-right corner of the widget, then click the three dots and choose “Edit”.

9 Formula

In the Layout section, click the “+” next to “Columns”.

10 Formula

A new window will appear. Click on “Formula” to add a custom formula.

  • Column Name: Enter the desired name of the column.
  • Description: Add a brief description.

Once done, click “Add Column”.

The formula column will appear at the end of the columns.

Drag it to reorder if needed.

Click “Save” to apply your changes.

Method 2: Add Formula Column via Data Source

You can also edit the Data Source directly and add a Formula Column. This way you can have a better view on what is happening on the backend.

On the top right corner, click on “Raw Data”

Click “Edit” to modify the source.

In the Layout section, click the “+” next to “Columns”.

Select “Formula” on the right-hand side to add a custom formula.

  • Column Name: Enter a name for your new column.
  • Description: Provide a description.

Once you’ve entered the formula, click “Add Column”.20 Formula

The new column will be visible in the “Columns” section. Select it and click “Add Column”.21 Formula

You can drag to rearrange, change Setup, and customize the column as needed.

Don’t forget to click “Save Changes” to save your updates.

You’ve successfully added a formula column to your report or dashboard in Wink V2. This allows you to create custom calculations that are directly integrated into your data views.

Note: On a dashboard, the formula you add will only apply to the specific dashlet you edited. If you are using the same data source across multiple dashlets, you will need to add the formula to each dashlet individually.
